Why Tony Edwards Photography?
Tony's career is photography. Tony has experience in all fields of photography and it's this experience that helps mould Tony's constantly evolving style. Tony's wedding photography is a mix of traditional and photojournalistic style's, he chooses to work strictly as an observer for all but the traditional, posed portraits before and after the wedding ceremony. Tony always works from a shot list for the posed photos at weddings to ensure that all the posed photos you want are taken and in the most organized way possible. It is imperative that the shot list be filled out with as much information as possible. In the event that you would like to view my shot list, please email me and I'll send you a PDF file with all of the information.
Is a contract required?
Yes. A wedding photography contract spells out exactly what you will receive for your money, it serves both parties interests to sign a contract, even between friends. Please email me for my wedding contract.
How many photos does Tony take during a wedding?
While the total number of photos varies depending on the length of coverage, Tony tends to produce approximately 100 photos per hour. Quantity most certainly does not equal quality, but Tony works in an efficient way that allows for the highest quality photos during the course of your wedding.
Why are Tony's Wedding Books better?
Tony custom designs every Wedding Book by hand after the intial 120 photos are chosen by the customer. While you'll see similar design elements across books, Tony works from freehand, no templates are used and no two books are alike. Tony views his Wedding Book as an original piece of art, and as such ensures that all the elements are combined in a way to produce an original, one-off, beautiful Wedding Book that will last for years to come.
The Wedding Book itself is a 60-page book, meaning there are 30 physical sheets of paper printed on both the front and back, like a traditional coffee-table book. Each page is coated so that it can be cleaned with a damp cloth and is available in either matte or glossy finishes.
While you get to pick 120 images for The Book, Tony reserves the right to add images as he sees fit. Tony will always listen to design suggestions, but ultimately you'll have to put a certain amount of trust in Tony and his creative abilities.
We require that the bride and groom check each page before The Book is printed via an online, soft-proof gallery. Tony allows for one set of changes made to the entire book.
Additional copies of the Wedding Book are available only after the initial Book is purchased.
Can I print my own photos from the DVD?
Yes. All of Tony's Wedding Packages include a DVD with full resolution color and black & white .JPEG files that can be printed as large as you would like them. Only the photos from the wedding are included on the disk, a disk from your free portrait sessions is not available. A copyright release is included on the DVD and required for printing at most local labs. Please see Tony's Wedding Contract for more information on the copyright release.
Why purchase prints from Tony if I can print my own?
While the prints available on the website are more expensive than those from 1-hour photo labs, they are superior. The prints ordered via the web are printed by one of the nation's largest professional photo labs only on professional matte finish paper. All of the photos ordered through tonyedwardsphoto.com are professionally color and density corrected and printed. Prints are traditional RA-4 process, chromogenic prints using only the finest chemicals available for long lasting prints. Tony's print prices are extremely low compared to other photographers in the area and are available to anyone you give your gallery password to.
Is retouching and cropping available?
Every print ordered through tonyedwardsphoto.com must be cropped by the purchaser once the photo is added to the shopping cart. Selecting "No Cropping" in the shopping cart adds a white border around the image in order to fit it onto the physical sheet, this is not recommended unless your planning to cut the image out to make a collage or to have custom framing done. Retouching is available, but its results are generally negligible on prints 5x7 and smaller. Retouching is done only by request, prior to ordering. Charges may apply depending on the amount of retouching required.
Does Tony use Photoshop to enhance any of the wedding photos?
All of the photos from every wedding Tony shoots are color and density corrected in both color and black and white. In this way, yes there is some alteration to the original RAW file. But in general, Tony does not do the over-the-top filter application that many photographers rely on. In this way Tony prefers a more traditional approach:
"Bride's often see photographers that apply these Photoshop filters and plug-in's as working hard in their interest. What they don't realize is this is a photographic fad. Think back to your grade school pictures and some of the backgrounds you would see, for instance where the photographer would shine a light through mini-blinds onto the background. This type of thing happens all the time in photography. While I do extensive Photoshop work on my wedding books, the pictures are typically unaltered. This is because good design is always in style, but in thirty years do you want to look back on the most important pictures of your life and feel like they were over-processed and in bad taste? I rely on my technical photographic knowledge to produce good photos. I suppose in this way, I use a digital camera in much the same way as we would have used film cameras 15 years ago. I let the picture exist like it really was, there's no need to make reality into something that never existed."
